Privacy is one of MiMir’s foundational principles. MiMir is intentionally subscription-funded because we believe people should pay for a service, not with their personal information, but with their subscription. Our business model is designed so that our interests remain aligned with protecting your privacy, preserving your memories, and maintaining your trust.

Because MiMir preserves stories, voices, relationships, and family history that may span generations, we believe this information deserves a higher standard of stewardship than ordinary social media content.

1. The MiMir Privacy Guarantee

Your memories remain yours. You retain ownership of the content you create in MiMir.
Your subscription, not your data, funds MiMir.
We do not sell, rent, license, or monetize your personal information or personal content.
We do not provide your content to third parties for advertising, data brokerage, external marketing analytics, or to train or improve third-party AI systems.
You decide who can access your stories through relationship-based sharing.
Customer content may be used only under MiMir’s control, subject to this Privacy Policy, to operate, improve, evaluate, and provide MiMir services including MiMir-provided AI-enhanced features.

2. Information We Collect

Personal information you provide during registration and account management.
Content you choose to upload, including stories, audio, video, photographs, documents, and messages.
Usage, diagnostic, device, and optional location information needed to operate and improve the service.

3. How We Use Information

Provide and maintain MiMir services.
Protect accounts and prevent fraud.
Respond to support requests.
Develop improvements requested by users.
Provide optional AI-powered features requested by users.
Comply with applicable law.

4. Ownership of Your Content

You retain ownership of the stories, recordings, videos, photographs, writings, transcripts, and other content you create within MiMir. MiMir receives only the limited rights necessary to securely store, back up, process, protect, and display your content to the individuals you authorize.

MiMir recognizes that a person’s stories, voice, photographs, videos, relationships, advice, and communication style collectively form a deeply personal digital persona. Protecting that digital persona is one of MiMir’s core privacy principles. Our privacy decisions are designed to minimize unnecessary exposure of that information while preserving it for the people you choose.

5. Relationship-Based Sharing

MiMir is built around relationship-based sharing rather than engagement algorithms. Creators decide who may access their memories through relationship-based permissions.

6. Artificial Intelligence

MiMir uses artificial intelligence to power features that help preserve, organize, search, summarize, translate, and enhance customer memories and stories. Customer content may be used only under MiMir’s control and subject to this Privacy Policy to operate, improve, evaluate, and provide MiMir services and AI-enhanced features. Where customer content is used to improve MiMir’s own AI capabilities, such use remains internal to MiMir and is never used to train third-party AI models.

Should MiMir utilize third-party AI infrastructure or processing services, those providers will only receive the information necessary to perform the requested service and act solely as contracted data processors. If MiMir cannot adequately protect customer data while using a third-party service, MiMir will not use that service as part of the core platform for processing customer content. Any future optional integrations would be subject to separate user consent and applicable privacy terms.

7. Core Third-Party Service Providers

MiMir carefully selects a limited number of core service providers that support essential platform functions such as cloud hosting, payment processing, identity verification, and customer support. These providers receive only the information necessary to perform their services and are selected based on security, privacy, and contractual commitments that align with MiMir’s privacy principles.

8. No Targeted Advertising

MiMir does not build advertising profiles, sell behavioral information, track users for targeted advertising, or use customer activity to personalize advertisements.

9. Legal Requests & Government Access

MiMir reviews every legal request it receives and discloses customer information only when legally required through appropriate legal process. Where permitted by law, MiMir will attempt to notify affected users before disclosure. Sensitive personally identifiable information (PII) is stored in carefully selected privacy-focused jurisdictions chosen for their strong legal protections.

10. Data Retention

Creator content is retained while the creator maintains an active Creator subscription or while at least one paid Consumer remains subscribed to that creator. If both conditions cease, MiMir notifies the creator and designated executors and provides an opportunity to renew or export content. If after 30 days an associated account has not been renewed, a final notice will be sent to all concerned parties, and if there is still no renewal at the 45-day mark, the creator’s data will be scheduled for immediate deletion. Users may also request deletion of their accounts, subject to legal obligations and active export requests.

11. Data Security

MiMir implements administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect customer information, including encryption of customer data in transit and sensitive customer data at rest. While we employ robust security practices, no system can guarantee absolute security, and users should follow recommended account security practices.

MiMir limits employee access to customer information to what is reasonably necessary for support, security, legal compliance, or operation of the service. Privileged access to customer content is logged and subject to internal review and auditing where appropriate.

12. Your Rights

You may access, update, export, or request deletion of your information where available. You may manage optional permissions and promotional communications through your account or device settings. You can also submit a request on our Remove Me page.

13. Children’s Privacy

MiMir is not intended for unauthorized use by individuals under 18 years of age. However, MiMir recognizes that preserving family history often includes younger generations. Parents or legal guardians may authorize and supervise the participation of minors through parental controls and account permissions.

Subject to those controls, minors may be permitted to contribute as Consumers of family stories, interact with family content, and, where enabled by a parent or legal guardian, create and preserve their own stories and memories. Parents and legal guardians are responsible for determining the appropriate level of participation and supervising the minor’s use of the service.

14. Changes to this Policy

If MiMir makes material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will provide advance notice through the application or other appropriate communication. If a future owner materially weakens the privacy commitments described in this policy, users will be provided reasonable notice and an opportunity to export or delete their content before the changes take effect, where legally and operationally feasible.
